Do I have to accept a reservation?

Hi there,

I am new to Air bnb and want to test the market and see how much interest there might be for my property before I commit to becoming a host. I understand that fines apply to hosts who cancel reservations, but do fines also apply for not accepting reservation requests? This is in Australia.

Your acceptance rating will be (too) low, if you decline a lot of booking requests.

On inquiries it is not obliged to decline or pre-approve, just answer the question or reply  within the time limit.
