Does pre-approval remove any ID requirements?

I require guests to go through ID verification before booking.  If a guest sends me an enquiry and I pre-approve them, does that circumvent my ID requirement or will they still have to submit this?

I think it may do but I am not 100% sure.  I have Instant Book on, so anyone sending a request would in most cases not meet my requirements and thus acting as a reverse filter so to say.

I had this exact question. The airbnb helpline "asked someone" & said the preapproval allows them to bipass the requirements. However, under help...it says it doesn't! Does anyone know for certain?

Pre-approvals do not override your reservation requirements.

So once they send the request and we pre-approve them, they are still prompted to verify in order to confirm the booking? Mine currently says "awaiting payment" after I've pre-approved them, does that mean they have to verify their ID and a valid form of payment?

I share the same concern. So why does Airbnb bother accepting enquires for listings (like mine) which require government issued id verification when guests request a pre-approved booking whilst they don't have as yet their id verified?

Sometimes, guests may have other questions too. Specially newly registered guests. Like how far is the property from a certain address or what kins of payments would you require.

I have the same query and got this answer from AirBnB: "Yes, if you approve they don't need to do the verification process". I have our place on instant book but require ID verification. People ask questions all the time, without pre-approval, so this feature (and the incessant e-mails urging it) seems redundant.
