FL Sales Tax Collection and Records

It seems that AibBnB is collecting sales tax on my FL rentals. I can see the amounts in Transaction History. They are the 6% Florida state tax, which is OK. I wonder why I had to snoop around all the web pages to find out I am double-paying my taxes? There is no visibility of taxes being collected and remitted on any future reservations. Only one screen "Gross Earnings" has this information and it is only on past transactions. Some FL counties have agreement to collect tax, some don't. As a host I should not have to struggle to find the tax information. This is really silly and should be corrected.

I need a record of these transactions for tax filing purposes. How do I get it? A printout of a web page won't be sufficient.

Also, there is no ability to enter my FL tax ID, so DOR cannot reconcile these transactions with my account. Am I missing something on how sales tax is supposed to work?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Paul,

I am a Realtor here in Cape Coral, Fl.   I have been renting rooms from my home since 2006.  In the beginning I had to pay the 6% Fl. Sales Tax, plus a Hotel Tax of 5% to each agency.   For the last year or so, the customer is paying the 11% at bookings.  We as the owners are no longer responsible for these taxes as it is AirBnB's responability to collet and pay.   You do not need to worry about paying this tax.  It was a good thing that happened for us as the two taxes were due at different times.

If you need my services, I am with Centruy 21 Gulf Coast.   Joan's Tiki Bar & Tiki Bar Open

I hope this helped!
