Guest Question

Hello!

I'm renting a flat for two weeks and have had a few issues with the property: the dryer isn't functioning and neither is the bedroom light. I have contacted the host several times.

My question is this:

Does a host have a responsibility to notify a guest if he/she enters the unit? We came back after dinner to find things had been moved, there was a lightbulb on the counter, the laundry had been turned to a wash cycle, and I never heard a word from the host. Additionally, neither of the issues have been remedied.

Thanks!

@Melanie239  First of all, be sure to message the host through the Air BNB messaging system in case you need to involve Air BNB.  You requested these issue be addressed, so there is implied permission for the space to be entered to begin a remedy.

I agree that the host should be more communicative and that is something you would address in your review.  Perhaps you could send a message to acknowledge that the host trying to remedy the problems; you would like to have an update as to the progress and you want to know when to expect anyone who comes to the place.

Good luck!!  Hopefully this will not interfere too much for you to enjoy your stay.

Thanks so much Linda

That is exactly what I did. The host was prompt to apologize. I'm fine with the flat being entered, it was just really unnerving to come back and see things moved around.

We did just find a scribbled note on the back of a piece of junk mail tucked away in another room saying that one of the issues was fixed (but it wasn't). Sounds like host will be more communicative moving forward.
