I have been hosting since 2016. Not too long and not too short too. I have met the following situation and what will you do?
Out of no where, one anonymous profile msged me in airbnb, asking for my guesthouse address and he is the friend of this particular guest that booked with us. I rejected to answer his question and asked him to use the account that booked with us to contact us. And also know the address has been released once booking confirmed.
Then today, i receive a we chat invitation stating the flight number to chat with us. But i ignore again because we chat has lots of weird msges from China wanting to add us as friends which i dont know why.
This guy got pissed off and said that why he cant get in touch with me twice. I have told him we dont communicate or provide people that is not the one that booked with us. Moreover, the guest that booked with me didnot even mention before hand her friend will contact me.
I was wondering if I did it wrongly or any other host will just provide address to the person even he claimed that he is the friend. He said he will report me because its a unpleasant booking with me. Im a super host and this is the first time i was told that my communication is not good.
please help!
No @Sora0 you did the right thing.
If he is a genuine friend of your guest. Your guest would have given him/her the address. Did you ask your guest about this contact?
I would contact Airbnb and let them know what has happened in case of any problems with people trying to hack your account.
I agree with the others. Get screen shots of the messages you received "claiming" to be the friend of a guest and contact Airbnb. File a complaint against the guest - not that the guest will face any penalties, but you may need proof later if that guest leaves you a bad review.
I think you did the right thing. I would probably do exactly what you did in your shoes.
