Host instant booking cancellation

Hi. Please help 🙂

Last week I had to cancell one instant booking reservation because a guest from Booking booked my apartment a few minutes before the guest from Airbnb. I did everything a good host would do---->I apologized and I found them another apartment for the same price and booked it! And yet I got 100 $ penalties. Is this normal? I just shut down instant reservation because of this. Thank you for your help, Maja

Hmm. I'm wondering if you cancelled the reservation after you turned off Instant Book.  The $100 penalty you describe normally applies to listings without IB.  Under the IB policies hosts may cancel up to 3 times per year without penalty.  My advice is to contact Airbnb directly and explain the situation to them.  Perhaps they will reverse the penalty.  You can call the number listed on any of your previous guests' itineraries.  Good Luck.
