I’ve been using AirBnB for a while and it seems like there is no consistency with hosts and their availability. The rate at which I have confirmed a booking and then the host canceling is about 40% in my circumstances. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or whether other guests have been experiencing the same thing. I usually do 1 night bookings on the weekends in the New York City area. I’m beginning to think it’s because hosts are unreliable and discriminate.
it seems you are really good guest with 2 great reviews, well educated and employed so you should be in a target group any hosts would like to get 🙂
In the future make sure you book a listing from a "superhost", they don't cancel except for a very good reason .
But , it could also be that you book illegal unit and then it is shut down and your reservation is cancelled. I think New York has some restrictions for short term rentals. Try to google it.
@Hammad1 I don't think the canceling is specifically because of you as a guest. Maybe it is just a conicidence. And as @Branka-and-Silvia0 just said, New York has different regulations. You have great reviews and all of the identification a host needs. And it depends, 40% can be just 2 bookings or 10 depending how often you travel. That makes a difference.
