How do I know if a guest will honour their booking?

Hi everyone,

We accepted a booking a few days ago (our 2nd booking) that is due to arrive tomorrow. I received the Airbnb confirmation email but have not received notification that the guest has paid anything.  I sent an email earlier today (9 hours ago) to ask what time they intended to arrive and have not received a response.  How do I know if this guest will honour this booking or if anything has been paid?  Is there a deposit facility that needs to be set up as I have a feeling we will be sitting with a no-show.  Also, can I write reviews for no-shows, or is their any recourse in this situation?  How can I avoid this happening in future? Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

Robyn

HI @Robyn22 looking at your calendar it appears your nights are booked.  I also would assume if you look under your reservations you will see the booking.  For this to happen it means Airbnb has charged the guest already (otherwise you will get a message from Airbnb to say the payment was not successful).  If the guest does a no show then you can still review them at the end.  The guest though has the ability to cancel (without a review at the end) but they will face your moderate cancellation policy which at this stage looks to be at least 50% of the rent you get to keep.  I did not look to see if you have a security deposit but you should advise one.  Handy for any future damage or loss claims you may come across.  Here is your cancellation policy to the guest.

Many times guests book at the last minute, they can be in transit and therefore without internet and not see your messages.

You should simply message them on the process for check-in tomorrow.  Do not wait around waitin.  Be specific and tell them what hours you will be able to meet them.

Thumbs up if that helped.

Oh my dear @Robyn22! While I was just considering listing a space on Airbnb my first questions were How does a guest pay? How do I get paid?  When do I get paid?  You have some reading to do!  Here are some links to help you out:

In your case, Airbnb would not have allowed your guest to make a reservation without paying for it in full.
