How to get peeps to be interested?

It's been a week and no-one even sniffed at interest. How do they know I am so boring? How can they tell, already? Amazing!

So, how can I appeal to the less intelligent? Very disappointing to find that I am so transparently dead, even to those who have never met me ... sheeeeesh.

More photographs and better ones perhaps?

You could tidy up the flat before taking pictures too...for example the bedroom one has a jumble of clothes on the top and the living room looks like there is a shopping bag dumped in the middle of the floor with stuff strewn all over the worktops. Were these police photos after a burglary you used??

You say you have a snooker table so why not show it off too.

If you could be bothered going down to the beach, take some snaps and you could show off what your location really is all about.

The description of your place you could certainly expand it with a sense of style using your superhero intellegence.

Good Luck!

Hi Van,

I just had a look and i think if you complete your verification to get the badge you will get more exposure

Cheers

Kim

Verification? Badge? Now, there are 2 new ideas [to me] ... thank you Kim.

Very helpful advice. I will get onto it immediately.

Best wishes .... Van

I would agree, you need to clean up the place.  Put stuff away.  Don't take pics of the place after it has been lived in for 3 days without being cleaned up.

Is there a view of the beach?

Aha. Thank you Mike ... this is becoming a recurring theme in the advice I am receiving.

Tidy up ... neaten up. Beach photos .... seems like good advice.

Thank you and best wishes .... Van

It's the pictures, most definitely. Too few of them and all they tell is that there's a lot of unorganized stuff in there.

Clean it up, maybe do some home staging, open the blinds, take pics of the area and views... that type of thing. Check out https://www.airbnb.com/help/topic/208/photos for inspiration.

Good luck

Pavel

G'day Pavel

No plans to visit Prague at the moment although my mind is strating to turn to another 6 month motorbike ride through Europe starting in Spain in April, Giro in Italy in May, Le Tour in France in July .... maybe Prague? What do you have on offer?

Thank you for the advice ... it seems my photos reveal to the world my unruly and turbulent life-style with a dash of untidyness. Ahhh....and sigh ..... 'tis true......

I will fix it all up.

Best wishes .... Van

Welcome to Air BNB, Van.  I agree you should take advantage of the professional photography as those pictures will really show off your place beautifully.  I looked at your calendar and you have very limited availability showing.  Was that your intention?  If you can open up your calendar, that would help a lot.  I see one month where only weekends are available.  I think an entire house in the location you describe would appeal to guests who want to stay longer than a weekend.  Good luck!!

G'day Linda .... yes. I think you are correct.

My calendar is constructed to be "toe in the water" ... but it is more a lock-out.

Thank you for your thoughtful response.....

I am most impressed with the time and effort all my critics have spent.

I am very appreciative of this .... shows concern for the common good.

Thank you all Good Peeps!

Best wishes to you Linda..... Van

@Van7 . Van, Van, Van. I agree with previous writers but also, remove people in the pics since you are not renting the house occupied. It is a total mess, and even if you were trying to attract intelligent people they will react to the untidy look. Stage it a little, wind the toilet paper back on the roll, blast the kitchen and remove the teatowels draped on the stove handle, take away the washing line at the window, on and on. Then, write something useful bout the place more than one line. In your own profile, write another sentence. Try not to be condescending (how to appeal to the less intelligent? Come on. I know you have a PhD but I doubt it is hostitality related). How about, if you want occupance, try to appeal to GUESTS. Imagine the guest in question to be you. Would you feel even remotely tempted?

I did see that 3 people have saved your listing, but that might be family and friends.

On the good news side, Air is an excellent way to rent your house once you fix your listing a little. All the best.

Thank you Sandra ... you are spot-on the money with the Ph D in Hospitality. Nup, nuffink there, that's for sure....exposed and revealed for all to see. Ph D in Boof-headery more like.

From you, and the critics appearing above you, I have learned that I must:

1. Be much, much tidier ... well beyond my own expectations

2. Stage the rooms to pose for the camera ... this is not a report, it is a sales pitch.

3. Include photos of local attractions ... beach, lookouts, national parks

4. Include photos of other attractions: wo/man 'shed' with snooker table/booze fridge/weights&workout/sports TV

5. Stop referring to peeps who see me as a dead-head as 'intelligent' and others as less intelligent ... as this is condescending.

The world is wonderful when it contains so many helpful people ... critical friends ... I thank you all and I shall now get cracking on the suggestions.

Best wishes to you Sandra .... Van
