How does this usually play out?? Im not confident I will get any compensation. He seemed kind of shady, he got angry when I wasnt there to meet him at the agreed time when he was 1 hour late on the agreed meet up time (so I went back to work) after that I didnt feel comfortable with him staying but I was willing to still meet him until he still seemed angry. So I lucky got through to airbnb within I think 30mins of calling and had them cancel. I returned home to see if he had damaged anything or broke in and yes he had opened the window. He stole a playstation and a bunch of dvds and 4 games. Supposedly had verified government id, phone number, email, and google plus I think its called.
Wow, this really sucks that this has happened. I'm so sorry for your theft.
First, how do you know it was him?
Second, call the cops and make a report.
Third, call airbnb and report the damages - go to the help center and read about how to file a claim.
Fourth, call your rental insurance agent and start the claim for a loss.
Fifth, change the locks since, I am assuming, you left a key on site to give to the guest and they appear to have broken in.
He stated that he was in fact staying, cussing at me it was pretty obvisious it was him, witnesses, time frame. Did 2, and 3 tried to have received no follow up today/not sure where to file claim but read through some the legal stuff honestly I got bored and little frustrated when I was not be able to find it. 4th dont believe I have rental insurance they dont require you purchase it at this location Im staying. 5th I didnt leave a key for him.
Unless you have actual proof that this guest, and not any of your previous guests or future guests, actually did the robbery, you might be at a disadvantage. If you are not carrying Renter's Insurance or Homeowner's Insurance on your property, whether legally required or not, you might be SOL. Please consult your local ordinaces. If you are subletting rooms in your apartment, make sure that your lease allows you to do so or else you will not be covered by Airbnb's policies either.... Read the TOS! If you can't get through the legalize of the contract you signed with Airbnb, take it to lawyer to see where you stand.
Well what else do i need dna?
I just got an automated email today asking if i still need help. Yesterday pretty much got the samething I dont think I can file a claim on my phone or i just cant find it.
Likely to claim the amounts you want to with Airbnb, you will need to follow their proceedures to the letter. If you've filed, all you have to do on is their policies. Policies which I think say you cannot claim a liability theft claim unti you've been a host for 6 months. Check it out, that 1M policy only "kicks in" after certain requirements are met. CONSULT AN ATTORNEY!

Looks like Airbnb is going to come through for me I got this email today.:)

I ended up getting paid for my losses on I believe May 9th. Im satisfied and everything is good. I placed a $250 deposit on my listing now for more protection.
Well I guess I have to ask him for money for the items he stole. Through the Resolution center, then request money, Pretty silly no one seems be acknowledging that I believe he stole from. All they had to do say something like so you believe he stole these items from you will look into it I didnt even get that. Now I just wait 72 hours and then something else is suppose to happen, "I can choose to get Airbnb involed" from what I read.
Hi Philip,
Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this process. I'm pleased to inform you that after a full review of all documentation, we have determined that your request qualifies under our Host Guarantee program.
