OK. I have a last minute cancellation of a 2 night booking. I have a flexible cancellation policy. The email I got says the guest was refunded $10, my airbnb account says he was refunded $40 and his cancellation email says he was refunded $16. Which is correct? The room was $75 total including a $5 cleaning fee. With airbnb fees, he paid $94. It would be nice to know how much he actually got refunded before I consider offering a complete refund. Do hotels offer refunds for late cancellations? Thanks, Melanie
No reason to offer any additional refund - stick to the terms of your cancellation policy.
Don't try to compare with how a hotel runs business, because you are not! So no need, @Melanie46! A hotel will only let you cancel if you paid a higher rate for a refundale room, that i not what this.
Let it go, enjoy the 2 days off and be all ready for the new guests! Good luck!
Thanks! I feel a little stingy not wanting to give a refund, but we got the room ready and everything. Does anyone know why his email says he only got $16 as a refund though? He should have gotten $40, I think. The booking says he got $40 but the email I got said he only got a $10 refund. I think he will feel better if his refund was $40 rather than $16 but I would like to confirm that somehow.
Why run around after this guest, you are seeing a problem that doesn't exist for yourself.
Your guests paid airbnb and not you, airbnb take their fees and they are responsible for all the money transactions. Just refer your cancelled guest to phone airbnb and they can explain it all clearly if there are queries.
Don't take over airbnb responsibilities for them.
Could someone please answer the question about why his email says he got a $16 refund, my email says he got $10 but the booking says he got $40. Neither of us can find the phone number for airbnb to actually talk to someone to get this quetion answered. He is appalled that he only got $16 back according to his email.
My email: Per your cancellation policy, your payout has been updated to $34. Your guest was refunded $10.
Does anyone know the phone number to airbnb?
I'm looking for a number for Air bnb as well as I had a cancellation on Saturday for a booking for Saturday night so it was too late to let the room out to anyone else and I had everything ready and breakfast in as well but I have got no payout which I thought I should get unless it's cancelled 24hrs before hand
