MA occupancy taxes exemption

MA occupancy taxes exemption

Those of us with owner occupied bed and breakfasts renting 3 or fewer rooms, providing breakfast as part of the fee are exempt from MA occupancy tax by statute. Airbnb is charging guests the tax despite the exemption and will not respond to any request to change this inappropriate charge. It appears that if Airbnb could provide a category designation of bed and breakfast home so that those so designated could be exempt.

Who can we approach at Airbnb to correct this wrong?

@Joy-And-Alan0  There are two very active threads about MA tax already ongoing. The Department of Revenue [email address for primary contact is in the other threads] is aware of this problem, and is taking AirBNB to task. I, too, am exempt but my lone voice will mean nothing to AirBNB. I am electing to sit back and let the DOR take care of this. I am maintaining a list of all my reservations that will be owed a refund once AirBNB is fully compliant with the new law.

Thank you! This was what I had  suggested Airbnb would do, and now the category is there! Interesting that the only way we find out is on the forum , not in direct response from Airbnb. Sad, frustrating  business practice!
