NEW HOME OWNER ASKING - IF VALUABLE STOLEN - WHAT AIRBNB PROTECT?

Are we suppose to get a copy of identification doc of stayer when they arrive?

In case they steal items in the house and when we report police - we do not have any document in hand

Due to in Singapore renting our place out in airbnb is not supported by gov,  we will prefer not to bring in airbnb during police report process

Any question,  how to claim from airbnb for issue like this ....  what is the claim process?

Some hosts require ID on arrival, in some places it is a legal requirement.

I would imagine any claim for Theft against the Host Guarantee could be difficult.

The AirBNB procedure is that you try to resolve the theft directly with the Guest, and then if that doesn't work, submit a claim through the AirBNB Resolution Center.  In your case, you may want to contact AirBNB directly and talk with one of the very kind people on the phone.  I've always had a kind and sympathetic ear, on those few occasions that I've had to call directly.  Tell them the scenario and ask their advice.  I personally like to get advice from more than one person and then come up with the solution that makes the most sense.  Lastly, you may consider adding to your listing that upon arrival Guests will be requested to provide photo identification.  So they know in advance they will have to provide i.d. to you, and you won't have an uncomfortable argument should you ask.  I'm not aware that AirBNB would not allow this.  After all, it is your home.  Good luck!  Lois
