Not getting email review requests

Not getting email review requests

A few months ago I called airbnb and told them that I was NOT getting any review requests (for guests) via email like I used to.  I am getting ALL other emails.   They told me at the time that it was a known bug and that they were working on it.

It still has not been fixed.  I get ALL emails except review requests.   I check my spam folder all the time, and the emails are not there. Airbnb is no longer helpful, they say they are sending them and so it must  a problem with my email provider.  That is simply wrong.  I get ALL emails from airbnb and all other acquaintances, but I NEVER get an email for a review request.  Plus at lease one airbnb employee told me a couple months ago that it was a "known bug" and that they were working on it.  So it is not my email provider, it is an airbnb problem, but now they are denying it.  It is just impossible that my email provider picks out only those emails that are review requests and blocks them.  That is a ridiculous hypothesis!

I realize that I can log into airbnb, go to my profile, and write a review from there, but that takes more time than simply responding to an email.  Does anyone else have this problem?

Hello @Eric199,

You may have checked this but just in case ...

If you go to your "account settings" when you click on your profile photo and scroll down on that page there'll be an "Email Settings"  section as in the screen shot below. Is your "Reservation and review reminders" box checked?

Thanks Steve, but the boxes are checked.  I always used to get email review reminders, but they suddently stopped as of a few months ago.  The first person at airbnb that I talked to stated that it was a known issue and that they are working on it, but everyone else I have talked to at airbnb (in order to follow up) deny that it is a problem.  But it is!

@Eric199   Yes,  but it is random for me -  sometimes I get emails sometimes I don't.  Airbnb told me to get gmail, but I know it is not my server that is at fault.  I have seen other posts with the same complaint.  I have resigned myself to logging in to my account until Airbnb fix the problem.

I reported the problem at least 2 months ago, but subsequent followups by me result in airbnb denying that it is a problem, so I don't know how it will get fixed if they deny that it is a problem!

@Eric199   In my experience there are some employees that deny it's an Airbnb problem and others that admit that it is a known glitch.

Call a number of times and you get a different answer,  it's like playing heads or tails.  Ultimately you will never know because they don't seem to know.  Sorry I cannot be more hopeful I have given up in frustration, I look for a work-around instead.

@Eric   I have exactly the same problem! I became a host in 2017 and received review emails consistently up to now - June 2018, when I am suddenly no longer receiving any. I looked at Steve's advice, but all my boxes are ticked too. Did you ever get this problem resolved?

@Ange2  Hi Ange, did you ever find a solution to this problem?

This happens to me repeatedly.   Without warning.   I do not have time to constantly check the airbnb web site to see if I am missing something.   For one thing, the airbnb web site is often excruciatingly slow, and I know it is not my computer because I don't have this problem on other web sites.     I rely on emails to alert me to reservations and review requests.  In the past, I have missed reservations because I was not notified, and to add insult to injury, I get penalized for not responding to a reservation request within 24 hours.   When I call airbnb tech support, they always blame my email provider, but I tell them it is NOT my email provider.  They don't believe me.  I get dozens of emails daily about many things, but airbnb is the only one that sometimes doesn't come through.   My personal opinion is this: Airbnb used to be a fairly simple and straightforward reservation system that was easy to understand and use, but they have gotten beserk in trying to become all things to all people.  As a result, the reservation system has become more complex and more difficult to use.  I classify myself as fairly computer literate, but I often have to call tech support because it is no longer easy to figure out how to do something.    But the bottom line: after calling tech support numerous times about not getting notifications, they finally admit that it is a problem at their end, and they fix it.   Then it works until it happens again, and then I'm back to square 1 with the same problem.     So good luck -- you'll need it.

@Rene120    If you go to the message board with the guest there is a link at the top that says "leave review" click on it and you can leave a review.  Best I have come up with for the moment.

Very true, but I'm not worried about missing opportunities to leave reviews, I am concerned about not being notified of reservation requests.   Like I said earlier, I know I could check on pending reservation requests by going to airbnb.com several times per day, but it is slow, cludgy, and inconvenient.   But so far, for the last few months, I have been getting email requests, and also texts.   I hope it keeps up, but I wouldn't bet on it.
