Payment for when guest has confirmed booking

Hi there, im new to Airbnb.

Ive got a confirmed booking for a month away.  In his details where it lists the amount my guest is to pay it has  a ( send or request money tab.)

Does Airbnb notify and orgnaise the payment or do I need to request the payment form the guest?

Has this guest already paid his deposit when he confirmed the booking and Airbnb is holding onto it?

Please help 🙂

Hi @Michael2677 I hope you are well!

Airbnb collect the payment and their fees from the guest, hold on to this until the day after your guest checks-in, and then transfers your payment minus their service fee to your nominated account- you don't need to do anything at all apart from ensure you have connected an account/paypal to your Airbnb account.

If you're a new host sometimes the first payment to hosts can take longer- please do spend some time browsing in the help section on the Airbnb app/desktop version so you are fully armed with the information you need to know before you welcome your first guests.

Send or request money can be used if you want to collect an additonal amount of money from a guest, or return some money to a guest- example if you charge an extra fee for an extra service that Airbnb wouldn't collect from a guest at the time they make their booking.
