Payout Method

I 've just connected my PayPal to the default payout method. My PayPal emails is the same email i use on AirBnb hosting.
Why it says "Pending" next to my Paypal payout method? When will it be confirmed? Do i need to do something?

Thank yo

Hello @Andreas359,

When you register a payout method, be that PayPal, bank transfer etc., the status says "Pending" until Airbnb has verified that the account is useable. In most cases they pay out a small amount to check that the transaction went through. If that's successful they then take a few days to complete their own internal side of the process.

So, you don't need to do anything more. The status should change to "Ready" in a few days and the account will then be ready for use by Airbnb to pay you. When this happens make sure to check that it's the default method like you say you want. If it's not, click on the "Options" button next to the PayPal account and select the option to make it the default method.

i have been using the same payout method for the last 2 years, suddenly airbnb tells me I have to add new payment method because of invalid bank details !!!! , even though my current bank  payout account works fine for everything else i had not changed them on airbnb. Why would this happen ?

also i am now having trouble installing a new payout method,

Hi there - I had a similar situation. I tried inputting my bank account details - which have always worked previously and now can't input a bank account.  I have had to open a paypal account to see if the payment will go through.  It is only in November that the payments to my bank account have not transferred. So what has changed?

Same problem, but why should I use Paypal and have to pay fees to have my money transferred when my preferred option is no fees direct deposit!  Airbnb should reimburse fees if anybody had or chose to use this method due to their problem with Australian banks!

I'm in Perth, Australia and I received the same message yesterday too. Do you think this is a ploy to get us to use Paypal and pay fees?

Maybe, but whatever the reason/problem they have a responsibility to their hosts to give options and reimburse the fees until they have sorted the problem.  My hosting money goes into an offset account so I'm losing interest every day they are holding my money and they are making money on our money whilst every they hold it!

I've just spoken to Christian at AirBNB and he confirmed that there is a technical issue with payments to all Australian AirBNB hosts which they are currently trying to fix. I did suggest that they message all hosts in Australia to keep up updated.

Agree - The minimum requirement is to keep hosts informed, I'm totally unimpressed at how this situation has been handled.

Hi Robert, I too am in Melbourne and am experiencing the exact same problems! I have been assured they are looking into it but in the meantime they are sitting on a lot of money collectively!

I've had the same problem. The first email I received I spammed as it was so unusual for Airbnb to ask for new account details when I've had the same account working perfectly for 5 yearsi!

I emailed them Tuesday and was told there was a problem and they were working on it.  Wednesday I telephoned as I was very concerned there was a security issue and maybe my back details had been hacked!  I was told they were hoping to have everything fixed by Friday.

Friday came and it was still not working, I'd tried adding the same bank details yet again and wrote again asking what was going on.

Today it came up that Australia couldn't have money sent and that I had to choose another country!

I just received another email an hour ago saying it was all my fault that I had entered incorrect banking details!!!  So over this!  A copy of my reply follows:

'Hi Jason

Thank you for the email.  But you have it all wrong.  I did NOT enter my bank details incorrectly.  I got emails saying that I needed to enter new banking details because the one that was currently the default was incorrect.  Sorry, it's been working successfully for 5 years!!  Nothing had changed my end.

Airbnb need to admit they are at fault when events like this happen instead of putting it back on the host that its all their fault/problem!
I have another email from Airbnb admitting fault their end so don't understand why I have received the above email declaring that I'm the problem with incorrect information entered.

There has been a serious error/problem by Airbnb which has delayed my last two payments.  At one stage I was asked to choose Paypal, but who was going to pay the costs, me!!  Maybe I need reimbursing for loss of interest on money not received, hey, it can't all go Airbnb's way when the problem is clearly yours.  You do make a lot of money from both the host and guest and with that goes a responsibility.

I'm normally a very easy going person but this week this Airbnb problem has really caused me a lot of stress.  I wasn't sure if my account had been hacked, whether the emails I was receiving were scam mail, it just all didn't make sense.   I think there should be something on your website that makes hosts aware there is a problem, trying to cover it up or delay letting hosts know is not the way to go in this time of security invasion and fraudulent activity.

I plan to post on the Airbnb blog about this so other hosts are aware.

I look forward to your reply.'

I feel your pain Susan! I have not received my payout to my default account which is a few hundred dollars I might add. I just contacted Airbnb and was advised they have "investigated" and the money has been sent? I have replied in a similar tone to you asking when/how I will get my money when I was instructed to  set up another account which they did not send a small test deposit to either. Awaiting their reply...

Have you since received a payout Robert (if applicable during this period)?

My Payoneer account is linked with Airbnb ID I was able to verify this with Payoneer.  I have in the past received payments to this Payoneer debit card account from Airbnb succesfully.  But now the option to select Payoneer in payout methods is gone.  I can not even see my Payoneer account from Airbnb as if its deleted. I've tried to re-add the ccount many times without success.  Payoneer Support says its definately something that needs to be fixed on Airbnb's end not their side.
