Pet friendly airbnb

I am now in my third airbnb during a holiday trip from south west Colorado to Lake Oswego, OR, and back to Colorado.  I am traveling with two dogs, both perfect guests, as am I!

Very experienced in the hospitality business, I am constantly surprised and not a little irritated that there does not seem to be a defined link for those of us traveling with our pets.  Quite often, I read all about a place, the price is right etc etc, but then, just as I am ready to book, the infamous No Pets pops up.

Might I suggest: a separate listing for airbnbs that welcome dogs and also, very important, specify that there is a secure yard on the premises?  Time and time again, one has to dig deep to find this vital information and usually has to contact the host direct.  All time consuming and not an incentive for prospective dog owning guests.

Also: please provide an X at each listing so that one can immediately DELETE postings that do not meet one's criteria?

These are so basic that it is surprising they have not been addressed previously.  Maybe they have, in which case I stand corrected, if not informed.

I would welcome comments and suggestions, thank you all!

@Jane2647, that is a complaint of many of us hosts and many guests as well. You can filter your search by 'pets allowed,' to get results where pets are allowed, but it seems many guests forget or aren't aware of the function.

I often get requests or inquiries from people who say, "Oh, btw, I will be bringing my dogs."  I have since added a blurp early up in my listing mentioning that I cannot host pets.

I travel around the country with my dog too, and even when I filter for 'pets allowed,' I usually send hosts a message first just making sure and also I need stable WIFI, so I also ask about that. But, I agree completely that it needs to be clearer as far as pets, with a symbol or an easier, more obvious way to search or discern pet policy.

Hey @John1080  I think it’s perfectly fine to travel with your furry friend, as long as the host knows what to expect. I would actually be excited to host a kind traveller with a pet. I love animals, what can I say. Sometimes, pets are easier to handle than some people.,.

I am a host who recently adopted 2 adorable kittens. I see that the guests love them. I taught them how to use the toilet. An eye opening experience. No litter box. Very clean.

Please comment, share and subscribe to my videos. I hope you enjoy it in the company of our furry friends, spreading kindness. There’s so much we can learn from them.

@Giuliana142  I once accidentally locked my cat in the house when I went away for the wekend. She was primarily an outdoor cat and had never used a litter box, she always did her business outside. Being locked in the house for two days, I found that she had very smartly used the bathtub drain. It was a bit gross to clean up, but not like if she'd just relieved herself on the carpet. I was quite impressed and couldn't understand how she'd know that was the most appropriate spot (not having taught her to use a toilet).

Have you taught your kittties to flush yet ? 🙂

Thanks @Quincy , it takes a lot of patience and listening to the kittens’ needs. They love to please us, that’s why they learn everything so quick, I think. The more love you give them, the more they return. Pure sweetness.

@Sarah977  Hi there,  I noticed that my cats too sniff around drains. My two cats would pee into the shower drain during the training period sometimes. I believe they smell water that leads to the sewer, where the shower/tub drain. They are very clean this way. Romeo and Juliet go out the window as well, frolic even in the snow and clean up outside. But they always go somewhere secluded, far away, into bushy areas, out of sight.

I don’t have the toilet with a handle to flush, that’s why they don’t flush.  😄

I placed a ladder outside my window so they can come and go when they please.  🙂
