Hi Hosts,
I have a new idea to share -- but first,
Well believe it or not, AIR developers have added all reviews to show on BOTH PROFILES!!
Yay!!
This means that all those mean Guests that thought they could get away with review bombing a place will now be revealed.
Well, sort of...
The STAR RATINGS have not been shared on both profiles, and that's really more what us as HOSTS need to see when considering if someone is a review bomber.
But what is a review bomber?
It's someone who does not say ONE WORD about their disappointment with something, but then leaves lowered star ratings so that we SUPERHOSTS can get knocked down and down, then they are a Review Bomber!
I am hereby asking that ALL HOSTS begin to reply to the review from these types of guests with
***REVIEW BOMBER*** in the reply, followed by an optional summary to what the situation was about.
That way, we hosts can better decide if we want to host these people or not, and we will not feel so sideswiped by these types.
Again, education is needed. Most Guests still think that Airbnb is just a cheap hotel, and will leave a review like they are deciding if a place is 5-star or 3 star based on finishes. We as hosts owe it to ourselves to make sure Guests know that the star rating is based on value for the dollar spent and not whether the location is ideal or the shower stall has glass doors and tile!
In the meantime, let's all keep asking the Airbnb developers to add our REPLIES to the Guest profile,
AND
ask them to include the STAR RATINGS on BOTH PROFILES too!
Only when everything is TRANSPARENT can we expect the Guest to be civilized and more truthful about reviews, and stop bombing us out of nowhere!!
Only when our reply to their bad review is seen by other Hosts, will be know if the person really was a good Guest, or whether they were a piece of work just waiting to blow up in our face!
Please remember Hosts, if a Guest doesn't bring up an issue, but then review bombs you, put this at the top of your reply to their review along with star rating details for what they gave you.
*** REVIEW BOMBER ***
Happy Hosting!
There is an extension on chrome you can install called AirReview - it shows the reviews left from a guest as well.
interesting. how? I just set it up wow love this!@!!!!! thanks
I have to disagree, @Anne1055. In fact your responses to a poor review on your listing don't do you any favours.
Your response to Leo's review (who you described in your review of him as 'a perfect Guest -- left the place clean and tidy and I'd host him anytime!) is a shocker.
Based on your come-backs, I'd be tempted to give your listing a very wide berth. It draws attention to you - in a bad way - and your guests are highly unlikely to see it.
You’re entitled to your opinion. It depends on your goals. My goal is to keep prices low. I don’t take crap from anyone, and especially not someone who decides in their review to diagnose me with a mental illness LOL. BTW his profile says business manager while am actually a trained health professional.
I’m reading hundreds of entries by hosts getting bombed. Have you got a better idea?
We do all have our own opinions. That's what a review is. An opinion. Not to be taken so personally.
@Kelly149maybe the low prices are attracting the "bombers?" Why would those guests care about reading the listings or leaving a good review. They are just there for the dirt cheap rate!
@Anne1055 Wow. I don't always agree with Gordon, but in this case he is 100% correct. Your response to Leo is one unhinged, angry rant--not to mention, it is extremely unprofessional. If I were to look at your listing and read this, I would definitely stay clear as well.
Hi Anne, reading your reply was certainly entertaining as a host just reading it for giggles but as a perspective guests, it's a lot to sift through and overwhelming.
I totally get difficult guests, I have had several but I try to keep my replies as short as possible so that perspective guests who read it won't get turned off thinking I am over defensive and 2 so that they don't have to spend more then 30 seconds reading it because they will just likely move on.
Also, i don't understand why you didn't contact airbnb and ask them to remove the review. Based on his remark of you having mental issues, that is considered defamatory. I think you should raise this to airbnb. Not only would it remove the bad review but also remove your reply which I will be honest was over the top.
Thanks I didn't think I could but I agree, it is defamatory, although anyone that knows me and has been to my place would laugh at that. I'm anything but a zombie LOL.
Actually, I don't have so big an ego that I can't leave it there. Besides, I'll bet he never thought his comments would appear on his own profile (a new feature that I've been requesting for some time now), and now all prospective hosts will see it.
Does anyone here want to host someone who diagnoses their host with a mental illness??
LOL
@Anne1055 I looked up 'psychorigide' in various online dictionaries & discovered this French concept does not have an exact equivalent in English ..... I discovered it refers to an inflexibility of thought, & I concluded it is not a psychiatric diagnosis as such, any more than describing someone as 'stubborn' is a psychiatric diagnosis, it's just a trait.... If your guest Leo had said 'Personality Disorder' (for example), then that WOULD have been a diagnosis which he is probably unqualified to make.... However I conclude that his 'psychorigide' was not such a strong term, I doubt he meant it with the force, or degree of damnation with which you are interpreting it.... he probably just meant you have very strong ideas about the way things should be done - that's the meaning of 'psychorigide', I rather think..... (I may be wrong!)
