Hello,
My host is refusing on refunding a cancellation made more than a month ahead and according to policy I am entitled to this refund. Even got an Airbnb message abour the amount I should be refunded.!! Airbnb and host owe me a refund of $1128.... This is abusive... customer suppor says they tried to contact host and it is non responsive or refuse refund. Cancellation policy was clear and I have the recepts saying I am entitled to it.. PLEASE HELP
@Mariela103 The host does not issue the refund, nor approve the refund. (Hosts don't get paid until 24 hours after a guest checks in, so at this point the host doesn't have your money) Airbnb issues the refund according to the cancellation policy in place for the particular listing. It's an automatic process. So it's unclear what's going on here. Could you state the cancellation policy in place, the date you booked, the dates you booked for, and when you cancelled? Then we might be able to explain why this would be happening.
Whether you get money back on a cancellation depends on what the cancellation policy is for that specific listing. Also, if you were to get any sort of money back, it would be through Airbnb and not from your host. It seems as though your cancelled your reservation within 24hrs from your check in which would mean that you're not entitled to any money back.
I canceled more than a month ahead of check in time.
How much you are refunded will depend on the cancellation policy. Also, the Airbnb service fee may or may not be refunded depending on your situation.

If a guest cancels before the check in date, the payment has gone from YOU to Airbnb only. Hosts don't see a single dime of the guest's money until AFTER the check in date, so please stop blaming the host. A host can't "refund" money when they haven't recieved any money in the first place! Also, hosts don't have the right or authority or power to "refuse" to refund a cancellation because the system handles it automatically when the guest officially cancels.

Guest refunds
Guests who cancel are automatically refunded according to your cancellation policy—unless the cancellation qualifies as an extenuating circumstance or falls under our Guest Refund Policy.
The only time Airbnb will ever seek permission/agreement from a host to refund a guest, is when the guest is absolutely not entitled to that refund.
What cancellation did you book under @Mariela103 ?
How long were you planning to stay for?
It doesn't matter how long in advance you cancelled if you booked somewhere with a strict cancellation policy or under a long term policy, you will not be entitled to a full refund, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
