Host for 5 years and this is extremely common. He will probably message/call you on day of arrival. For future bookings I would set strict check in and out times. So it works for your schedule. Or offer a remote check in with a lockbox or code entry.
Guest receive all the details they need at point of booking. Address, etc and some just think they can rock up like at a hotel and we will be there. One recent guest had turned off notifications so wasn’t getting my messages via Airbnb. I find majority of guests use Whatsapp, so I try to message ‘silent’ guests on there.
