How do a super host applies to be consider for a relief grant from Airbnb?

66 Replies 66

Their site said they will send out email invites:

When does this application process start?
We’ll invite eligible hosts to apply and start sending out relief grants to approved hosts in late April 2020.

I own an Airbnb cottage in Michigan USA and need the income but since the pandemic my guests are canceling. I understand there is an application under the CARES ACT. My Airbnb site said I would qualify?

*Where and how do I find the application/form to get help on lost income since a desperately rely on the high season income?

*Government relief How and where do I get that application?

*SBA Personal Protection Program (PPP) Loan forgiveness“CARES ACT” form/application?*

Or both to be filled out PPP and/or Cares Act*

*Apply now or April 10th

*Airbnb stated end of month special Grants to Super Hosts?

*Do we need to fill out an application (where do you get)

Please Help assist or direct me to the correct link to fill out proper application

You need to apply for the PPP through a bank that does SBA loans

Hi Marianne -

I hope you got the information you needed in time to apply.  I applied from both the PPP loan and the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan.  I applied for the PPP loan through Chase, because I have my business accounts with them.  They denied my PPP loan because I do not have employees.  I run my Airbnb as an S-corp so I did not qualify for the PPP loan.  If you claim you AirBNB income on Schedule C of a 1040, then you maybe eligible for the PPP loan.  I did recieve a $1,000 grant from the SBA and I was just approved for a EIDL for $2,900 that I don't have to start paying back for 12 months and when I do have to start paying it back it will be at $15 per month.

Hi @Troy52

I am in similar situation regarding the SBA's EIDL grant/loan (didn't even bother with PPP loan because I can't prove anyone is working for my airbnb rentals).

I received the EIDL grant, but heard nothing for the EIDL loan. I had done my application through the SBA website, not via bank.. How did you hear about the loan from SBA (via an email for the application portal)?  OR Was your EIDL loan application via a bank?

thank you,

I applied for the EIDL loan directly from the SBA website.  I knew about disaster loans because I had taken one before.  I applied late March 2020.

How is eligibility determined?

To qualify, hosts who offer a place to stay must

  • Only share their primary or secondary residence – no more than 2 active listings
  • Show a reliance on Airbnb as a vital source of income
  • Have a verified identity
  • Have been a Superhost for 1+ years
  • Have lost a significant percentage of their earnings due to COVID-19

We want to support as many hosts as we can, but we also want that support to be meaningful. So we’ll be reviewing applications carefully and will select only those hosts who demonstrate the most need.

How Are Applications Evaluated?

A specialised team at Airbnb will invite hosts who are most in need to apply. This same team will evaluate applications on a weekly basis and get in touch with hosts whose applications have been approved.

We want to support as many hosts as we can, but we also want that support to be meaningful. So we’ll be reviewing applications carefully and will select only those hosts who demonstrate the most need.

But how hosts can demonstrate that needs a help? There's no application and there's a lot hosts who fit to they criteria, how they choose?

How is this need demonstrated?

How can you know my need without first getting an application from me?

I am  a single mother of a child with Down syndrome. I can no longer work a regular job. The small amount I was earning annually is CRITICAL to our survival. How can I "show" the need without first submitting an application. I am really disappointed and frustrated that this application process is not transparent.

Hi

I agree, and don't understand. I rent out part of my home and its my main source of income, I also Uber so I'm in a financial mess.  Have you been able to have your question answered?
