Hi I am Breny from New Zealand and a super host. I had a guest not stay but they didn't cancel. Should I pay some money back to them.
They don't expect me too.
It would be great to here from some one about what they would do.
Cheers Breny
@Brenda318 There really isn't a "should" about offereing a refund for this situation. Some hosts feel that they want to, some don't because they were depending on that income and don't see any reason to refund just because the guests couldn't make it or changed their mind. Personally, I'd be inclined to offer a partial refund, as a gesture of goodwill, but retaining enough to cover the time I spent dealing with their booking, preparing the room for them, exchanging messages with them, as I feel my time is worth something and that guests should realize that. It's nice that your guests didn't expect a refund, but FYI never offer one until you see that the money from their booking has been deposited in your account. Some hosts have refunded $ only to have the guest apply to Airbnb for a refund as well, meaning the host was out the $ twice.
Thanks Sarah, that's very helpful.
Cheers Breny.
