Hey Folks,
this my first post here, but I use AirBnB a lot of times and in the past was all good and the hosts are very cool and nice.
A bit in the past, I have booked for my girlfriend a room in HCMC, Vietnam, it was not far away from the university, and looked nice.. but only looks on pictures so..
I visited my girlfriend now since last week to check if all going well and I encounter in some issues with the Room.
1. Since 3 days its coming water from the ceiling, looks a broken pipeline or something else, and the ceiling looks not more good and water is dropping all the time, it is possible to ask maybe for a discount by the host, because they works all the whole day on the wall in upper floor to find the problem.. its very annoying because, I need a bit to work and its very difficult to get a bit silence here.
Also we cannot change the room, because they have only this room all others a booked out.
2. The Room is not so much clean, if we want to clean the room we need to extra pay for that or we need to buy our stuff self to clean the room.
3. The Mattress was complete uncomfortable, I have buy now a new one on my own costs, can I also expensive this to the host?
I can also add Pictures when it usuable.
Please advice and help me...
If water is coming into the room I suggest you book elsewhere, the host will have to give you a full refund if the room is wet, obviously. Airbnb will have to cancel the booking on your behalf and might also find you another place. Just don't cancel yourselves, let Airbnb do it.
If it is a really long term booking while she is studying and things are good enough to stay once the water stops, then stay and do the cleaning yourselves. For a long term booking it could be worth it, but I certainly would not be buying a mattress. Either move, or stay and like it.
Hy Sandra, thanks for your reply
I dont know how long it takes if the room looks like normal, also I dont know how long the workers need to finish..
Because the water is in the wall of 2 floors in that house.
to the Mattress, they cannot move in the oder direction, because on both sides you see the mattress springs and if you lie on that you cannot sleep very well, because you have the springs in the back or stormage and feels not good. So for longterm study is this not an good thing. Thats why i buy a new one.

Hello Tony
I don't know why you haven't phoned BnB and asked them to find you alternative accommodation (I am presuming as you are staying there the accommodation is for both of you).
Phone them now tell them about running water, unclean room and a bed you can't sleep in.
Next time I would suggest you make sure the property has good recent reviews and you talk to the host in detail before booking, partiulcarly for a long term stay.
If you girlfriend is there for a while she would probably be better asking her university to help - they normally have established systems to help students find suitable accommodation.
Try to talk to the host first and see if he/she willing to refund you. if not, you can take pictures and send it to airbnb, use the resolution centre to solve the problem. it sure not comfortable to stay in a room where its wet and leaking. good luck
