Hello, I am registering to be a host and requirements have an$250 fee. Is this necessary to proceed? Please help to make my set up clear to understand.
Thank you,
Mia
Hi @Mia55, first you have to have a business license from San Francisco (roughly $350) before you go to the Short Term Rental license. Yes, the fee is $250 for the Short Term license, but they won't process you without the business license, so you have to get both. You can sub,it the business license online. It takes a few weeks until you get your permanent license. Currently, you have to go to the Short term office in the SF Planning Dept. to get your short term license, although they are testing an online application, it is not yet publicly available right now. Hope this helps, @Mia55. Don't be intimidated, once you get started, it isn't difficult (just expensive)!
After the fees have been paid, how soon are you able to rent? The website says once you have your buisniess registration number and complete the form, you can begin listing and booking immediately. However it also says that it can take the city up to 30 days to review your application.
Does that mean I am not able to rent until the application is complete? Or can I start renting before that?
