Security and identity verification

I had a guest stay at my apartment form July 28th to July 30th. His profile picture was that of a White caucasian male but he was an African American male. This is serious misreprestentation and compromises the security of my apartment and other hosts if the profile picture does not correspond to what identity proof that they have sent to AIRBNB.

I have tried to reach out to AIRBNB since Thursday and have not got a resolution for the same.

Thanks.

Ahsan - As you felt this was a serious security breach, why did you let the guest stay at your property? Why didn't you phone BnB straight away and get advice?

It could be that the guest has previously experienced some prejudice from hosts and the ID he has supplied to BnB is correct but the image not so. Of of course there maybe some misrepresentation.

When you say you have been trying to contact BnB have you tried to call them or use their social media. This will give you the quickest response.

It does make me question whether Airbnb actually physically matches profile pictures with id (driver's licence, passport). I have been asking Airbnb to give us full names of ALL guests, not just the one booking. I try to check Facebook to see what potential guests have posted, especially if I have concerns.

It put you in an awkward position when he showed up. I would hope you have phoned Airbnb and discussed this with them. If you are like me and live alone we have to be especially careful about who stays with us. In 3 years I have never had a major issue but I have turned down potential guests if my instincts tell me.
