Super Host

Hi there,

I was looking forward to becoming a Super Host and I thought I had achieved all the requirements, obviously not. Can anyone enlighten me as to where I am not achieving them. I have copied and past my Host Standards.

Thank you.

Regards Ingrid

Hi @Ingrid3 From what I can see, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't have recieved your Super Host badge. You've met all the criteria, most definitely. We had the same experience - all I can think is that the system is flawed. You could contact Airbnb & ask. - Karen

HI

I lost super host status as I had to cancel an instant booked reservation, (i cancelled the day after the reservations was made!)

as a result, I lost my status.

NO MORE INSTANT BOOK, I LIKE A BIT OF SCREENING OF MY GUESTS BEFORE THEY SHOW UP

Now Airbnb is asking me to consider instant book  with "penalty free" if I need to cancel.

Kind of a sleezy business move Airbnb!!!!!!

I canceled my instant book for the same reason Paul.  Airbnb wants me to turn instant book back on and they say no  penalty for canceling but I've been burned once so I'm hesitant to try it.   Super host status is wonderful and I do not want to lose it!

Hi there,

Does anyone know if super host is calculated over all your listings? I have two listings, one has been going for six months & has got me all the credits so far & the other one, I have just started

cheers

Jayne

I think so, Jayne, because unlike the Plus listing, Superhost is for the host, not the listing. As long as you qualify for Superhost status overall, it applies to all your listings, or so I believe. This is quite useful when you're opening a new listing.

yes, they average all ratings, which can be helpful.

I to find myself in the same situation.

Clearly meeting all the criteria, but no 'badge', waiting to see what happens in January.

It may not make any difference to bookings, but acknowledges our hard work and effort to maintain high standards and ultimately the reputation of Airbnb. I've hosted well over 100 individuals and groups, and have repeat bookings.

l've been doing this for 2 years and have had the status in the past. It's a mystery.

Hi Kirsten.

Air BnB have lost the plot as far as quality hosting is concerned. They are now confusing it with throughput (aka sales) and appear to have forgotten that the customer comes first. If you do not meet sales criteria (never mind the level of customer satisfaction you provide) you are not making enough money for them and therefore do not deserve the badge of Super Host.

My reviews and repeat bookings speak for themselves  - I haven't had a bad review yet. I bet yours do too. Air BnB can keep their badge. Just keep up the good work and remember that you are earning for yourself as well as them. One day they just might wake up and realise that it is the hosts who are keeping them employed.

Cheers,

Carolyn  🙂

Thank you for getting back to me.

It is a real shame if this is the case. Mainly because this isn't clearly specified and therefore leaves confused demotivated hosts. Hosts that do well should be acknowledged in some way, it is our work that maintains the reputation of the organisation.

Hopefully they'll sort this out soon.

have a great festive season.

Kirsten.

Hi Kirsten.

Couldn't agree more. AirBnB need to wake up and realise just who is paying their salaries.

By the way, if you are ever out this way call in and see us!

Great article for hosts of Airbnb by Seth Porges here: http://www.forbes.com/sites/sethporges/2016/06/29/the-one-issue-with-airbnb-reviews-that-causes-host.... Explains inadequate language of star review system.

I've been a SuperHost with 100% 5* reviews up until a few guests ago when someone got the s...s because they couldn't get 4 hour early check in, 4 hour late check out and an extra night for 50% discount - although I explained it prevented me from renting out that night - and I did give a 3 hour early check in. But that wasn't good enough. So I got 3 stars for being inflexible.

I often find that the lower stars are given because a guest hasn't READ all the information nor looked at all the pictures.

Luckily, those few low stars and bad reviews quickly get lost with all the good ones. Good learning curve to not get hung up on the stars!!

So don't despair about that nor being or not being a SuperHost.  I'm unaware that we get search rank preferences. I've only had one guest out of over 100 who said 'we only search for superhosts' so I'm not sure it's any big deal except makes us feel good.

Hi all,

i have just had my super host badge taken away however I have not been notified why by Airbnb.... it literally happened overnight and I have a 5 star rating?

help!!

thNks!

Did you make any cancellations? There are several things that they review you on and cancellations is a biggie I think. Have you read this: https://www.airbnb.com.au/help/article/829/how-do-i-become-a-superhost

If you comply with all of those, call them and ask. I thought I'd loose mine because of 2x 3* and 1x 4* in the last quarter - which I've never had before - but I didn't. I don't know if it works on algorithms, real people or what! If it's the former, which it probably is, it explains everything.

All the best.

@Ween-and-Charlie0 I had the same problem yesterday, but the badge is back today 🙂

must have been some glitch in the evaluation assessment period! Is yours back too by today?

I have a seasonal boutique hotel and for two years in ther row I have been a super host working full time 6 months in the row. If i was open 12 months out of the year I would probably keep this status. this way I loose my super host status because the evaluation is every 4 months and since I have no bookings due to the fact that my business is seasonal there for I am closed in the winter. I don;t think its fair and want to know if any of you experienced this and how it was resolved?
