Taxes and payments

Taxes and payments

I am new to airbnb and I have recently placed my home for guests to enjoy. I don't really understand how the taxes work, does airbnb charge taxes and pay them or do I need to include them in the prices? Also if you include them in the prices, how do you add that fee? Also are your guests sent payment reminders? How does the payment situation work? Thank you for your help

What a lovely family home you have, @Morgan58.  I hope the guests who enjoy your space treat it with the respect it deserves.  You have many good questions.  I would suggest you make use of all the information located under the hosting in the Help Center.  It was great help to me when I first started.  If you use search term, taxes, you will see several articles about Air BNB collection of taxes including where in your state they collect.  Also, if they don't collect then you must collect the tax and remit to the county and/or city in your area.  Some hosts collect after the guest arrives throught the request money option on the confirmed reservation.  I include the taxes for my city in the nightly rate and specify that in my listing description.  I think it is less hassle.  Good luck with your new business!
