Taxes in Lisbon

Hi,

As you certainly know, the Lisbon Municipality has raised the touristic tax from 1€ to 2€, starting in january the first.

My guests so far only paid 1€ to AIRBNB.

Now what? Who pays the 1€ of the tax missing to the Municipality of Lisbon and what should I declare when I make the invoices for the guests and to present the IRS in Portugal?

Regards and Happy New Year,

Marta

Hi Marta

Please find the answer in this post from CML:

I am concerned about the taxes already charged by airbnb out of the law, since the simulator of availability does not discriminate in between short or long term stays, according the AL regulation, which statates that until 28 nights is considered AL, thus the payment of the occupancy tax (taxa municipal turistica) until a maximum of 7 nights. This a big legal issue that is being fought with the authorities since they have been managing money for almost 3 years that is not theirs, and has to be refunded to the landlords or directly to the guests. I hope this help to spread the word on something that is wrong.

Thank you

Andy
