I haven't been hosting for very long - just since 10/18 - but in the last two months, almost all of my inquiries have been people asking for insultingly deep discounts on their stays. The one tonight asked to pay 1/3 of the already-discounted (for extended stay) rate. Is this normal? It's exhausting. If I didn't want to keep up my 100% response rate, I wouldn't even bother to write them back.
Any tips on how I could modify my listing to minimize this issue? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
It seems universal that hosts find guests asking for discounts become problematic.
I usually respond that we don’t offer discounts as our listing is already great value. Good luck
I've done that but I'm looking for something that will stop them from sending the inquiries at all.
@Alexandra0 Unfortunately, you can't. Just an annoying part of hosting. I saw that you have "Price is non-negotiable" in "Other things to note". I don't know what more you can do.
BTW, your place looks super cozy. I think you should put some books and things on that empty bookshelf for a photo, though. Minimalist is fine, but a totally empty set of bookshelves looks like you just bought it and stuck it there for the photo. Would love to see a splash of color, too. Maybe a bouquet of red tulips on the table.
