I have finally bought a towel rail for my guests. Hurrah! But I am not sure whether to put it in the (shared) bathroom or the guest room. They are next door to each other. On the one hand, that means they have to change in the bathroom, on the other, I am not sure about having towels in the guest room and if that is a "good look." Any thoughts? thanks
Are you real? Perhaps if you don't know you shouldn't be hosting! I'd be embrassed to stay in your place if I knew this...
that is totally unhelpful and unfriendly and you can't spell. Congratulations.
Do waha you'd like to have or see when you are staying at a place. It's not difficult.
What's difficult is the people who actually run AirBnB and skim a nice %% of our hard work. You cannot contact anyone directly and they've now changed their booking site which makes it difficult for us as a host to respond to requests - while they (ABNB) and their automated messages hassle us to either only accept or decilne a request immediately so they get their cut - even when we don't have all the information about a person. My last request was a male with a female photo and no other details about he them it - no reviews or anything else and now it turns out they didn't look at the booking site properly and want an entire apartment not a private room and bathroom.... and we can't respond or ask ABNB anything further except asking the community who haven't been doing this as long as me anyway!!! - sorry just a pain and so really not worth it anymore!
Put your towel rail where it suits you- it's your place and you will have to live with it well after you have guests!
I agree AirBnB has it's challenges... I don't understand why you can't contact the guests, though?
For all it's faults, I wouldn't be doing this nor getting the bookings I am getting without it, so I am willing to cut it a lot of slack. A bit like Facebook and personal info. I wish you the best in your hosting journey.
Oh there's no problem in contacting the guests - it's the people who operate (or suposedly operate ABNB - not the community or some computer who can't answer us). Yes previously I've had a good realtionship beacuse I could operate as I wished not pushed and pulled like they are doing now because they want more $$. I don't want more $$. I have a high class place and do not want every Tom **bleep** or Harry here - I want nice (and fewer)
people wanting a great experince and from what I have done previously I can do that without thier push pull mentality.
Sorry I didn't know this site existed as I've never needed it but was trying to actually contact a real AirBnB person not another host...
Good luck with your towel rail.
PS You do know you can also host on Booking.com and a few others like this in the same way?? 🙂
No, I didn't. I will check with Booking.com
I agree with you about the quality of the guests. I have had a couple bad experiences so now I try and chat with them a bit to find out what sort of people they are before accepting. It's a shame there is no setting to block unreviewed guests.
All the best Michael
Fortunately in my 4 years I've only had one not so good couple which I removed after a ady (when they should have been staying a week). I do converse beforehand - especially when they are not saying anything these days. That's where it is sad that AirBnB don't specify this...
There are many other sites especially in EU that do similar to ABNB (in fact I actually used someone else when I stayed for the Paris AirBnB Open in 2015). If you need the $$ its worth your while checking others too.
Good luck.
@Michael711 and @Nannette3 This was the most confusing discussion thread I have seen on this host forum!! What started with one question about where to put a towel holder appears to be a conversation between the two of you unrelated to towels...:) Oh, well...
If I booked a room with a shared bathroom I would want to be able to hang my towels in my room to ensure no-one else used them. A towel rail may not be necessary - hooks on the wall would do. At least, that is what I have in my properties.
I would also like to find a mirror and a hair drier in my room and somwhere to place the toiletery bag. Perhaps a mirror above a chest of drawers and the all important power outlet nearby. Or a small desk that can double as a dressing table.
Personally I think it should be in the bathroom- don't think I have ever seen one in a bedroom - would look a bit weird I think
I suggest putting a rail in the guest's room and a hook in the shared bathroom. If I am a guest staying more than one night, I would keep my towel in the room with me. If I am only staying one night I may leave it in the bathroom. Plus, a rail or hook in the guest's room would allow them the hang a towel they may have brought with them.
So, I have one for bathroom, one for bedroom, one for both and one for, "It's so obvious, I am not going to tell you and you are an idiot and I hate AirBnB."
I need a deciding vote.
Rail in the bathroom, hook or 3 in the bedroom. Best of both worlds
