i can't add VAT number on Airbnb page? Why?

I am having exactly the same problem. When i follow the steps to add my VAT number in my profile, and click the button "verify", nothing happens at all. I have spoken with a lot of different people that have the same problem. I called airbnb, explained the problem and they tried to isnert it for me and they also have the same problem. My friends did the same (they called and the airbnb team faced the same problem). They said they would fix the issue, but tehy havent... what a bad service!

I have EXACTLY the same problem (am on Lisbon, Portugal).

I am in lisbon as well, and we added VAT without problem. The thing is that you need to register your VAT through VIES site, leave it few days to have effect, and only then it could be accepted on airbnb.

You can fallow Raffaele & Astrid's link, or simply go to: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/  

( choose portugal in upper and down fields, put your NIF inside and verify), I think it should take effect only in few days. After these few days go there and put portugal and nif again in both fields, it shold show you validation, your full name, address, etc.
