Vetting prospective guests

Vetting prospective guests

I've trying to find out if I can ask for full name, town and state of residence in order to do a simple background check before accepting a reservation. I've gotten many first name inquiries and one full name inquiry that revealed felony records.

My house rules require their government ID on check in. No 3rd party reservations. (I've had several attempts at this) Since Airbnb is hiding their full names, I put a lot of emphasis on their message request to book. If they are not forthright with a few details, I deny. Just last week I decided to experiment with Instant Book because you can make their previous host recommendations mandatory. Instant Book also states that I can cancel any booking for any reason - no penalties. I decided to cancel my first instant book because he used a demonic looking mask for his profile photo, no introduction message, and even though he had two previous recommendations, I didn't like him! My 2nd instant book has been a charm.

Is this the Boca property we spoke about a couple years ago? Have they loosened the restrictions? I haven't seen this.
