If a hosts cancels a reservation, then there is most likely a severe reason for it. The host also faces penalties from Airbnb, so it is not a step which is taken easily. However, if there are "extenuating circumstances" the host can contact Airbnb and they will try to find a solution.
If you contact Airbnb and explain your situation, maybe they can work something out.

But you must realize when using the platform you agree with Airbnb terms of service, and yes, Airbnb can wash there hands of issues like this.
