cancellation policy

I made a reservation that I had to cancel 4 days later because I found a place to stay without having to pay. When I booked the apartment, the reservation policy was moderate. But when I inform the hoste that I was going to cancel the reservation, she changed the cancellation policy. I contacted the hoste and this person told me that he had changed the policy the day before. It was when I told her that I was going to cancel the reservation. Now they tell me they do not going to return 100% of the money but only 50%. One of the reasons why I made this booking was because of its moderate policy. And now they tell me that the hoste does not want to make the full refund of the money. What can I do to get my money? Thank you

Contact airbnb customer service, they will likely refund you 100% and overturn the host decision. Because she should honor that when you booked it was on moderate policy. And airbnb customer service will honor it if the host won’t. You will get your money back 100% don’t worry just be proactive about it with the customer service.

It is not possible for a host to change the cancellation policy after a booking, @Camilo51. She can change it for future bookings, but not for a booking that has already happened.

@Camilo51, as @Lawrene0 mentioned, it does not matter at all that the host changed their cancellation policy. Whatever cancellation policy was in effect at the moment your booking was confirmed is the cancellation policy that covers your booking.

Plus, I don't think the host has any say in how much money you get back. If you do a cancellation, AirBnB will handle refunding your money. The host doesn't have any of your money yet anyway. The only time AirBnB ever asked me as a host about a refund was when AirBnB asked if it was okay to give the guest MORE than they were due. (It was.)
