When I try to change my profile and email address airbnb asks me for a password.
I signed up with facebook so I assume my password is the same. Somehow it does not work and when I say I forgot my password it only accept my non valid email address. and I am stuck with an old profile and email addres that does not work anymore.
What can I do?

I have a similar problem. I changed the email in our profile to my husband's address while I was out of contact so he could manage reservations. Since returning, I have not been able to return it to my address. I get the message 'email address already taken' --- duh!
This coincides with us having opened the app on my phone to search for accommodations for an upcoming trip -- not sure how all the dots connect, but I think somehow the website is reading my email address as a separate account (guest) instead of recognizing me as both a host and a guest.
I manage our air bnb activity (both hosting and staying) and my husband is back-up. Surely I don't have to have one account for guest and a different one as host?!??
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Have you managed to sort out the email address issue as mine also says that the email address already exists and I know it belongs to me. I am just scared I miss out on bookings that will go to a emails address that is not active anymore.

I am unable to change my email address of my profile. The new email address already exists on the system as I get Airbnb info on it but my listing email is unpredictable so I want to change it but because it is on the system it states that it's taken. At some point I must have given this new email address to Airbnb but I don't know how to delete it so I can use it on my listing profile. Help!!!

Wow, this thread is over a year old and there is no solution from anyone in the "community". It would be nice if AirBNB could have a number for customer support, or at least someone on their staff who can monitor these threads. I have the same problem and can't make any profile changes because my Facebook password is not accepted.

Welcome to the Community Center. You are right, it doesn't appear to have a solution. I wonder if this information might help:
This is from a Help Center article which can be viewed here.
If you have created an Airbnb account by connecting to Facebook, you weren't required to create a password.
You can continue to log in via Facebook, or if you'd like to create an Airbnb password, you can do this by first logging out of your Airbnb account, then follow the steps as if you have forgotten your password (visit: www.airbnb.com/forgot_password, enter the email address you use for Airbnb, and you'll be emailed a link to reset your password).
Please note: once you create an Airbnb password, you'll no longer be able to sign in using Facebook, but your Airbnb account will still be connected to Facebook.

The email address I have is now deleted, as Tmobile/Orange has closed it down. My airbnb is s till registered to this eail address, so i am not receiving any email notifications. I am a joint host with a friend and so it affects her listings as well as my listings. When I try and put my replacement email in, it is rejected with this messgae 'Profile update failed: Email has already been taken.'. No idea what to do and this problem is not going away.Can someone fix this please?
em sSo, I did this - creaed an AirBnB password - but the system still won't let me change my email. Directs me to enter my FB password, which it consistently rejects. (Yes, I have updated my FB password using AirBnB links.)
OK, here's what worked. I created A/b password then logged out of AirBnB. Logged back in, and voila, was able to change my password and update my profile. What a mess it was to get this success, but it's done.
Wait, what? You created 'A/b password'? I'm not sure what that means. I'm in a similar predicament as those above.
I changed my email address in my profile. Then when I went to change the password, it said a link to reset the password would be sent to my email address, and it listed my old address, which is no longer in operation. I keep trying to use the security page, but get the message that I'm entering an invalid password when it asks for my old password, even though I'm typing it correctly.
