how to change the reservation for an extra guest after check in?

Hi,
I have a 1 guest booking, but 2 people showed up.
They told me "there was a problem with Airbnb". (whether that's true or not is not the topic).

I tried to alter the reservation to 2 people, but Airnb says it's not possible since they already checked in.
So what am I to do now? 😞
