I would first try to communicate throuhg the airbnb messaging system to find out which are the correct dates. If the guest confirms the correct dates in that message and if they are different to the actual booking request (different no. of persons or different departure date or whatever) I would send out a host offer with the dates they just communicated to me. They then need to accept or decline within 24 hours.

Thank you Ralf.  I have just done this and sent special offer to guest.  I have probably missed this booking but I have apologised and told them that Help response gave me your suggestion.  Hopefully I might get the next 5 days booked by them but... it is probably too late. Kind regards Judy (NZ)

oh, that's too bad if you can't get this booking. But at least you now know that a host offer with a good upfront communication may solve the problem. I had a similar case (dates and appartment number changed twice) and at the end I got the booking...

One more tip: if you want to write to a particular person here in the community center, you need to type the @ sign and then select the members name from the list (the members of the actual comment are displayed at the left side if you scroll down a bit)
