"Weekend Trip" tag in guest reviews-Host safety concern

Hello All,

I just submitted feedback to Airbnb via their website about the recent addition of  the "weekend trip" tag next to certain guest reviews. My concern is for any listing that happens to do a lot of weekend-only business; the new "weekend trip" tag inadvertently advertises that such a listing is often vacant during the weekdays, which can make that listing a target for crime.

I'm not sure how long ago the weekend trip markers appeared, but it is somewhat recent and my concerns about it are not abating. If others share this concern, please consider submitting your own feedback about directly to Airbnb via the website. I've been hosting for 3 + years and think the previous system of including a review's  month and calendar year is plenty sufficient--it lets prospective guests know how active a listing is and it protects the privacy of hosts. I struggle to find a reason why a listing's booking patterns should be made public.

Thanks for reading,

Lila

@Lila-And-Chris0This tag has just appeared in my reviews. It appears to have been applied to all stays (which presumably were marked as such by the guest) beginning January 2019.

I'm uncertain of the benefit of this tag for guests. What does it tell them, really? I'm also a bit confused as to why such a tag appears, when the many stays I've hosted for "work trips" are not similarly appearing. I would've thought, since the platform does filter for listings recommended by guests for work trips, that such a tag would be more relevant for filtering purposes.

It's a strange one...unless it's to allow the platform and each host to calculate for percentages of "weekend trips" vs. overnighters, or longer stays?

Anyone else have an idea as to what the purpose of this might be?
