refund/possible glitch

Hi, my friend booked a place for 9th Feb on the 7th Jan, but when she went on airbnb 2 days before booking date(9th Feb) to confirm check in time, it said it was cancelled by her on the 1st Feb, but she never cancelled it nor did she receive any email/notification saying it's cancelled, as result we had we find last minute accommodation elsewhere which end up being much more expensive then what she paid originally. There's absolutely no reason for us to cancel our booking and re-book another place that's more expensive when our flights and everything are already booked. She mesasged the host regarding the situation, but they didnt reply; she contacted airbnb for refund, informed them that she never cancelled it, and airbnb said it it showed that she did, so they can't give her refund. Could this be a possible system glitch?

Hi Lisa,

That’s strange...

 

l have never heard anything like this sense l started hosting a year ago.

Let’s see if someone else here on CC who has some more experience can help to shed a light on this issue.

I did some research and saw someone made a post a few months back regarding the same issue where the page have cancelled their booking under their name. my friend got in contact with host and they said they will contact airbnb, hopefully we get our money back

@Lisa1684 you really need to call Airbnb about this if you want a refund.

We have contacted them again, they said they will get back to us after they investigate  the issue.
