suspicious text requesting phone number verification

I received a text telling me to login to : http://airbnb.com-bmb.com/login/

verify=phone number

to verify my account or my account will be suspended.

My phone number is verified on my profile so I did not go to the link.

This appears to be some type of scam.

@Debbie51 you should report this to AirBnB as soon as possible. It is definitely an attempt to get your login details - the url is not an AirBnB one, just made to look like it - so definitely don't click on it. The methods and numbers for calling AirBnB are here.

I recieved the same text on my cell phone. I have been looking for where or how to directly contact AirBnB in order to report it... understandbly with so many hosts to manage, they don't make it easy. Any ideas?

Thanks and glad someone else posted about this...

Hi,

I did call, and the girl on the phone just verified that it was not a valid text.  But, if you need to actually speak to someone at airbnb, here is the info that I got from google:

1-415-800-5959

We try to keep our phone lines open for guests and hosts with urgent situations. Please reach out to us via email if possible.

+1-415-800-5959.
+1-855-424-7262 (toll-free)

I get it, that its a lot to manage...but they are really exploding and should find a way to arrange for customer service calls, like any huge business with a LOT of customers, imho.

🙂

Please do report it, though!  People will be scammed with this one!

Yup.  Me too.  It came from Doylestown, PA and the phone number was: 1-215-345-6177.

I called airbnb and all she did was snicker and indicate they did not send the message, and "you should report that"....UM, OK?

To WHOM?  I thought I WAS reporting it...to airbnb.

At any rate...someone is trying to get into our accounts and hack them.  It happened to me once before in a scammy email, pretending to be airbnb....and foolishly I clicked the link and got hacked, about 4 years ago.

Beware!

And...thank you to the original poster for posting.  I never thought to post here.

Thanks, Julee: I did not know where to post either but remembered the Community Help and found this section.

I will definitely call and report it.

Mine came from: (630)752-0891

I just received a text from (470) 504-3330 saying "Airbnb: In order for you to keep using your Airbnb account you need to confirm your identity here: http://confirmidentity.infoThanks. Airbnb Team".  I definitely did not go to that website.
