If you are going to be away when you have guests a co-host to manage things when you can't sounds like an essential.

I also have a key lock at my place.

Try keeping a combo lockbox on exterior of the unit for emergency lost key situations.

Thanks for your suggestion, I have units in 14 york and 12 york, the managment took out all the lock boxes, and the management said no host should keep lockboxes around.

If you're open to having a professional manage your units for you, you should get in touch with Andes STR +1 (833) 988 3133, they are great!

Do you have a friend you can leave a key with just in case? When I go away (rarely) I leave a key with someone. Haven't had to use it yet but I have the security of knowing someone has a spare. Not a co-host, just a friend.

Whenever Henry and I are both not home for more than 24hrs, I let my parents know just in case - they live about 45 mins away (by public transportation - my parents no longer drive)

They aren't co-hosts and aren't involved with my hosting. But I can trust them to act on my behalf if the need arises; even if it's as simple as contacting a locksmith I wouldn't want the guest to be communicating with the locksmith directly or allowing another stranger (=locksmith) to have access to my home without proper oversight.
