Are you trying to acquire property insurance or a deposit?

Hi Linda, Property insurance/protection plan in lieu of a deposit.  We also have an option for pool heat but I'm fine to charge that after the fact if the guest wants to purchase it.  Also after reviewing some of the comments on taxes, it seems like the reccomendation is to build it into the price, however if we do that then we are being charged the booking fee based on a lot of money that it's ours...

Yes, it's a real dilemma, I had in my description that upon guest arrival I would charge an additional 15% for tax but after arguing with a guest I deleted it. Airbnb should put in a fee line item for tax for everyone hosting.

I just pretended to book my own house and it shows an "occupancy tax"... but is definitly not the correct rate for Florida.  This site is too confusing and not flexible enough :(.  Bummer, I was really excited about it too.

How do you charge the extra? Like you I would like to add a couple of optional extra fees for a tv service (that we need to subsctibe to on a monthly basis so we only pay for it if guests want it) or cot and high chair hire. It seems the rules dont allow adding extra fees after booking, but there is no way to add optional extra fees before booking???

This just means my AirBNB gursts get a worse service than those who book in other ways as they don't at the moment have the option to add extra services
