Smart pricing overrides normal pricing. But you can still edit the calender to set fixed prices on certain dates/periods. If you disable smart pricing, normal prices are back again (but not for the dates/periods you set the prices manually).

@Akarat0, Smart Pricing will change the pricing on days where you have not set a special price.
You can manually set special prices that override the Smart Pricing using the Calendar.
I am not clear what happens if you use a Channel manager system to set prices in bulk AND have Smart Pricing on. Perhaps you should ask the Channel Manager System help as to what happens (and whether you should leave Smart Pricing on).
For myself, I do not turn on Smart Pricing because my pricing is being set by Wheelhouse.
I do not want two robots fighting over who gets to set the price.
Hi Matthew, Thanks for sharing your knowledge! You mnetioned wheelhouse in a post to me before, and now here -- so you use this in lieu of smart pricing to automate your pricings on your listing? I would like a little more flexibility than smart pricing offers (such as a high mimimum in high season) -- are you finding wheelhouse is working better for you in this regard?

@Sheila146, I am still somewhat new to Wheelhouse (I have only been using it 2 months), but I have liked the pricing it puts on the calendar. Our occupancy has been about 80%, even though this is our slow season. (I started trying out Wheelhouse because it is our slow season, and it was a lot of work to keep fiddling with the pricing to fill in holes in our calendar.)
There are a good number of controls you can set up, although all I really did was leave all the controls but one set to the default values. There are pretty graphs that help you visualize what will happen when you alter any of the controls.
If you are curious about it, you can look at their free demo. If you paste the URL of your listing into the free demo, it shows you the actual pricing it would set up for you.
One of the features I really like is that it explains how it arrived at the pricing for each day. Just click on the day and it shows you all the factors that affected the price for that specific day.
And, of course, you can over-ride the pricing for any given day and make the price whatever you like.
I have not tried Smart Pricing because it seems somewhat opaque; also, there are very few postings here where people say they like Smart Pricing. (In fact, I have only ever read one host say they really like it.)
On the other hand, there is no shortage of messages here where the host says "How did this guest get a booking for so little?" and realizes it was because Smart Pricing was on. There is often bad language involved.
Some people really like Beyond Pricing, so I would recommend evaluating both Wheelhouse and Beyond Pricing to see which you prefer.

I have also like yourself was looking for something to help with pricing and been using Wheelhouse for a few months now and it has us booked most of the time even in the slow season.
I do have a question, I know my wheelhouse panel is no longer working and have contracted them about it a few weeks ago ... Are you having the same problem where its not linking to your Airbnb accout?
