Blocked dates due to expired reservation

A potential guest made a reservation request which I missed.  Said reservation expired and blocked the dates.  I would like to unblock the dates and offer them the spot (as I messaged them and they are still interested)  
It was suggested somewhere in the forums that if I send them a 'special offer' it will work, but when I attempted this the reservation systems said the dates are blocked and unavailable.  I would like to make these dates available for this guest.  Can someone help?
