Five Stars Turn into One Stars

Five Stars Turn into One Stars

So this is what happens when Airbnb "enhances" the review process for guests and forces them to fill out too many fields.  This guest gave me an overall 5 Star review, so thankfully these individual 1 Stars won't affect my SuperHost Status, but it's still annoying to see them.  You can see by reading the guest's feedback that the guest obviously meant to hit the 5 Star buttons, but hit the one star buttons instead.  My understanding is that guests don't see this feedback in public reviews, but I did notice on this listing that the "highlights" box at the top of the listing---the place where it used to say "100% of guests like this location" or "100% of guests found this listing to be sparkling clean" has now disappeared.  I guess it brought down my averages.  Since she gave me an overall 5 star review, I don't think I'll bother to contact Airbnb "support" to fix or change this, but I still find it annoying.  No one has time for this lengthy review process that Airbnb has forced on guests, and this is the result.

And this is the 5 Star overall rating she gave me:

@Michael956,  it stinks this happened and I would be super annoyed as well! But I think your guest is kind of dense. The only reason he/she "commented" on each of the individual categories was because Airbnb asked what was the reasoning for giving the very bad 1 star rating. You would think that after the first prompt of 'why are you rating your host so poorly' that she/he would have seen their error.

She was an older women using a cell phone during her travels, so I  suspect she may have had issues with her sight and stiff fingers using a small screen, as well as perhaps not being internet saavy.  Airbnb is not being "user friendly" with this expanded guest review system.

I will not defend the review system because we all know there are issues. I am not a technology savvy person; I don’t have a smart phone, but it takes me all but 2 minutes to complete the 4 step review as a guest. But who knows maybe the process is much longer on an iPhone? My fingers are surely too fat for that.

@Michael956  I would contact Airbnb about this- not to demand that they change or ignore  those star ratings, although it would sure be nice if they did, but as more fodder for what we have been saying- that the guest review process is far too onerous and guests either don't bother to review at all, or get confused like this guest did.
