Dear Airbnb community,
I am a host and a week ago I received a booking request by a woman (Magnolia Daria) who contacted me not to book the room but to ask to work for her. List her properties and get a weekly salary for leading the commications and regulating the prices, availability and so on. I am a hotelier myself and she said she liked the way I promote my property and she wants the same for hers. I tried to work with her for a week and she turned our to be a FRAUD! She has no properties, I understood this when she asked me to provide the Guests the direct email (in a certain way) because she wants to discuss the details with them. I refused and said it is fraud, I will not risk my account. By the way she refused to open her own account by postponing this and asked me to use my own payment details (which is I did not do and understood that sth is wrong). Then I found out that she is doing the same on HomeAway platform, asking for a pre-payment in cash and then stops replying. She is not replying to me as well now and did not pay me as well my money for the week I administered her properties... Be aware of this kind of people, I was lucky and experienced enough to not be involved into her fraudulent activity.
Just wanted to share this.
She provided me with very nice photos of the apartments in Italy (probably took them from somewhere), and I listed them in the system, put prices, regulated availability etc.
Few days later I understood her motives and permanently deactivated all before receiving any bookings.
Sadly, this is inevitable. We here at Airbnb have been in the Sweet Spot for so long.
Scams are relatively rare here. Scammers have not figured how to game Airbnb.
Thank you @Fidan4 for shutting down this scam.
