General acceptance of WIFI Data amount per day

General acceptance of WIFI Data amount per day

Hi guys, I have Telstra pre-paid WIFI set up at my place and a recent guest has not only sucked the account dry but also in 1 day completely obliterated my credit recharge - going through nearly 9gig of data in around 36hrs (nearly $100 worth of data).

I would be lucky to use 5gig in a week and I'm a reasonably regular streamer/downloader of video and chatter on the net.

I have checked with Telstra and there is no way that I can put a daily cap on usage, but I thought I could create something in my house rules that says 'there will be a minimum of XX data available, times by the number of days staying' - it will be all there at the beginning of the stay and there may be more data available, but never less - and then once that runs out well bad luck.

But the question I have is what would be an acceptable amount of data? 500mb per day? 700mb per day? 1gig per day?

Can someone point me in the right direction of a 'fair' amount of WIFI to provide per day?

Hi @Jadd0,

500-700mb sounds fair to me but not necessarily to someone who might be visiting for work. So no matter what you decide, make sure you make it very clear in your rules and in the description so that no one has a bad experience.

These sources will help you limit the usage:

I hope it helps you resolve your problem 🙂

Thanks, that does help, much appreciated
