Hello, I have a question. I will be getting some construction done on my house in 2 weeks. Is there a way to suspend my account until the work is done on my place,or do I have to close down my account until then? Thank you
Or...you can use the Snooze function for your listing which will mean you can close your account for a set period and reactivate it when you are ready to start taking bookings again.
I will have construction work being done downstairs while I have guests staying upstairs in a week. This guest had been booked for some time however these were the only dates the contractor could fit me in this year. While it will not affect my guest upstairs except that all my living room furniture will be moved into my garage, and the carpet from the stairs will be torn out while the work is being done, asthetically the interior view downstairs will not be pleasing. Upstairs however the guests have a suite with private bed, bath, with sitting room, T.V. Their only contact with the construction is seeing it coming in, and from the loft upstais.
I have advised my guest of the situation stating I certainly understand if they wish to cancel, and I would waive my fee for their reservation, however if they wished to continue, I am willing to offer a $10 daily rebate for their inconvenience. I do not want to cancel and be penalized by AirBnB. I read in one forum never to cancel, but to try to get the guest to cancel to avoid being penalized. Upstairs is fine, and the workers leave at 5pm, so if they are out at the theme parks all day, I don't think it will bother them, but I do realize how people like to find fault and complain. How would you handle this situation? If they stay, I even thought about taking them out to dinner at the clubhouse while they visit to help them not be so focused on seeing an empty downstairs.
