Guest receiving multiple repeat texts

Twice recently I have been asked by guests to stop sending multiple text messages (the same message appears to be sent on the hour every hour and through the night!) the only way they can stop it appears for the guest to be to disable text messaging within account settings .  this is very frustrating for both sides as I have only ever sent one message but somehow it appears to be a repeat loop!  Has anyone experienced this.  I don't want to turn off text messaging facility myself as I find it very useful.  Has anyone else had this issue and how to report to airbnb of this glitch?  Thanks

@Louise23 Geez, this is the first time I've heard of this happening.  What kind of device are you using?  My guess is that your phone is the one doing the looping...have you tried refreshing the app you're using?  Or uninstall it and reinstall?  I really don't think it has anything to do with Airbnb...

thanks Clare - i spoke to airbnb customer support yesterday about this.  Agree, think it's time to get a new phone!  Airbnb suspect its a mobile/carrier glitch.  Just not sure how to stop it.

On January 29th I received a message from another host that I planned on renting from. Now 5 days later I am still receiving this message every 30 minutes. Details are registered as being sent on January 29th. I have tried switching phones, shutting down phones, removing sim cards for an hour . I also had the number taken out of my profile, replacing it with another number. I have spent hours on the phone with airbnb, nothing has changed. I need this phone number, and I need to respond to other text and calls. All night while sleeping in the airbnb rental and everynight now for 6 evenings ,I am awake every 30 minutes with the phone. Now what? I can never get back to the same airbnb member. Yes I am a super host and I have  a very nice property, however, it looks like I may have to leave airbnb. Too bad, customer service is next to zero. Any suggestions?

We requested to book a room on airbnb yesterday got a text saying available at 1.32 pm 8.2.17 booked it & got text confirmation at 1.50 pm. Have susequently had at least 40 texts all  saying available timed at 1.32 pm on 8.2.17 (woke up to 21 & still happening at 3.30 pm 9.2.17!!) any ideas how to contact anyone to stop this? just had another 4.05 pm 9.2.17!!!

Since January 29th I have received 48 text each day from airbnb. Today is February 10th. All repeat messages from an airbnb number. I tried changing phones, number removed from my sight,etc.etc. No good! It is my business phone, the only incoming problem is from airbnb. I call them each day, nothing has changed. Each time they said they will put it through as priority, even urgent. Each time I check back a new customer agent tells me it is on the list of low priority. I never get to speak to the same agent, and nobody is following up. I normally sleep with the phone,as many reservations arrive during the night. Now I have put a new number on the sight, and my reservation request are not coming through.  Possibly a sign someone is working on this horrible glitch! Not sure I want to comtinue to be miss superhost with airbnb. Not sure what to do, I rented  an airbnb myself and was awake  all night. No answers, no apologies, no acknowledement,no compensation. Nobody is out there, I feel I am only speaking to computers. Or worse, people that do not know how to assist. I am more than frustrated. Patricia ***

I came back to the community center after a break a few days ago and since then, I get all mails several times. Nothing to do with phone or app, happened on 2 computers and the phone. Not so many as you describe, but 3 or 4 per post and not in chronological order. Some delayed haf  a day, sometimes four of the same in a row.

Hello @Patricia52@Geoff-and-Gaby0 and @Helga0,

Lovely to meet you. This is very strange, I can imagine how frustrating that must be for you, especially if they are the same message each time. It is good you are reporting this back to the Support Team, I do hope this gets resolved shortly.

In terms of you point Helga, I just wanted to check if you are referring to the email notification you receive for posts here in the CC? If this is the case, you can review your notification in your Community Center 'Community Profile' - found by hovering over you name in the top right-hand corner and you can unsubscribe from any threads you are following. Sorry if I have misunderstood this, and I will try and help further. 🙂

Thanks,

Lizzie

Hi @Lizzie

Thank you, no, I do want to keep the email notifications.

During 3 or four days, I got the same mail several times (on the same device). It stopped yesterday and I have no more doubles.

'Hi Lizzie Now 7pm so 29 & a half hours after the 1st text telling us the room we enquired about & subsequently booked we are still receiving the same text, now over 100 times!! to sy it is available, if you have any influence on the way to stop this please HELP!!!

Hi @Geoff-and-Gaby0

as Lizzie said, it's a problem for the tech support. But as Patricia asked me in a message and you have the same problem, I copy my answer here:

As Lizzie said in the thread, check your notifications settings:

On a computer, Profile, Notifications.

You did not say, if you have enabled Push Messages or SMS.

SMS come via the phone line, but as airbnb is trying to get rid of that service, it' not always reliable. I never switched that on.

Push messages (over the Internet) mean that the email or notification is laying in wait till your phone or computer is online and then the message is pushed to your phone. Then the phone says "I got it" and the pushing stops.

What you experience is like a miscommunication between the two: the airbnb server keeps pushing and the phone does not realise it got the notification already.

As Patricia switched phones already, it's either the airbnb server or the provider (I'm not an expert in these protocols).

You could click off the push notifications in your profile for tonight and check your airbnb message account manually tomorrow morning.

Then switch it back on, to see if it starts over. At least you got a quiet night.

Good luck and tell us if it worked.

I have exactly the same! Did you manage to stop it?

I sent a message through their "contact us form" & had an email back to say they had passed info to IT, it did stop but coinciently it coincided with the date of the stay! after then l had a telephone call from them checking it had stopped, have just booked another with no duplicate texts, so not my end!! Hope this helps

Hello

I am having the same problem. 2 Messages every hour for the last few days. I did contact the support team and they said I need to contact my mobile company, the problem is there...........

I have changed my sms notifications on my account and have even deleted my mobile number and yet sms's still arriving.

What am I supposed to say to SFR in France? It just seems a really easy solution to keep passing this problem onto the phone companies.

Thanks so much

Very frustrated

Ann
