I need help. I just had an Airbnb finish, and when I came back I realised she has taken or consumed while staying my moet champagne. It was hiding in the fridge in one of the side panels. I leave out a welcome pack with various things and clear out my fridge except for the sides. Is it wrong for me to be upset as I didn't leave it out or say she could have it? Or it is my fault for leaving it in the fridge?
You left it in the fridge. Now you know not to do that again.
@Lizzie27 maybe it was misunderstanding, maybe they just didn't think, maybe they did this with purpose...who knows? But if you share one fridge with your guests then it would be good to mark which is yours and which shelfs are theirs, maybe with some stickers or something so it is very clear what is offered and what is not offered. I would do that.
It sucks but unless you clearly mark it as not for guest use (or better yet, don't leave it there at all) it just looks like a nice gift left for them. At least it will help you get a great review!
Make sure it is in your house rules. "Do not partake of our food or alcohol in our refridgerator. We provide a welcome basket in your room. You must purchase your own food and drink."
We have this in our rules but still put a lock on our liquor cabinet and we have still had people take "a" beer without asking from our stash (also hidden in the back of the fridge). I always act like it's totally okay...absolutely fine...but ding them in feedback.
@Lizzie27 this happened to me before, but it was not in the fridge (it was in the kitchen cabinet which was off limit for guests). They drank half of it then pour water back in it! I sent a claim through the resolution center. At first, he did not admit it, but then he tricked himself to admitting it. I received the reimbursement. The thing is, they were renting a private room in my house (so, I would think it is common sense not to take what does not belong to you). In your case, renting an entire unit, I can see there might be an assumption that what is in the unit can be used unless you specify.
